Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. However, for a child of Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and family, these were very natural traits. Maureen was born in this cosy haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by her parents and family members. Marguerita FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland, and also ran a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons placed 2nd in the group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen was a natural athlete and enjoyed playing tough athletic games. Her natural ability to perform perfectly complemented her love of athletics. This was apparent when she won every Feis for drama and theater the Irish had to offer. At age 14she was accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study operatic singing as well as classical theater.
